You as a business owner should know by now that your web site is often how your customers view your business for the first time. Making a good first impression is key to gaining the interest and confidence from new customers and clients.

It's not that difficult to compare your web site to your physical business. You deal with customers each day and should know what questions they ask over and over again. You should know what boosts confidence in your products and/or services. You pay attention to your market and use marketing tools to improve sales. Are you doing all this on your web site too?

DO SOME RESEARCH:

ONLINE: Go to your own web site. Then, search for a few of your competitors web sites.  This is a good way to start. Generally if you find your local competitors web sites listed ABOVE your own in the search results you need to do something better. Compare and contrast your web site with top ranking sites you find.

OFFLINE: Track how many documents, flyers, brochures and other postal mailed materials you send out each week. Postage and printing adds up over time. Wouldn't it be more convenient, cost efficient and quicker to send the customer to your own web site to retrieve those documents? They can either choose to view them directly on your site or they can print them off themselves.
